The NFL regular season kicked off last night, and believers in the Madden NFL cover curse already have something to point to. The Pittsburgh Steelers' Pro Bowl safety and Madden NFL 10 co-cover star Troy Polamalu suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of the season opener against the Tennessee Titans Thursday night.

The Associated Press reports that Polamalu's injury was diagnosed as a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL), an injury that typically keeps pro players on the sidelines for three to six weeks. The defensive star had been having a productive game until that point, making six tackles and coming down with a spectacular one-handed interception earlier in the half. Despite losing Polamalu, Pittsburgh went on ... Read more »

Some people have found Kurt Cobain's posthumous appearance in Guitar Hero 5 a little unsettling -- including his widow, Courtney Love.

In a Twitter tirade for the ages, the former Hole frontwoman announced plans to sue Guitar Hero 5 publisher Activision over the way her late husband was represented in the game, reports The Guardian.

"For the record this Guitar Hero [expletive] is breach of contract on a Bullys part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction," she posted on her Twitter account. "WE are going to sue the [expletive] out of ACtivision we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises. ... Read more »

While we were spending some time at QuakeCon 2009 we got a chance to watch this new trailer for DiRT 2 coming out soon.  Why did we care about this particular trailer?  Well, the game is being built with DirectX 11 technology so obviously AMD is proud to show it off since they will have  ... Yes, we can hardly believe it ourselves, but Sony came a-knockin' at our door today, and we were more than willing to answer. The PlayStation 3 Slim is now official in-house, and it's a matte-laden beaut. Enough chitchat -- live vicariously through our unboxing!

Update: Some details for clarification. The buttons in the front are now physical and actually "click" in to function. The PS logo above the disc drive does not rotate for vertical use, and yes, the hard drive is swappable -- as you can see from the pictures, there's a screw on the bottom, hidden by a panel, that lets you take off part of the front for access. We've also lined it up against our standard, fatty PS3, and we gotta say, it's noticeably lighter.

"Extremely limited stock" selling out at brick-and-mortar stores; online retailers currently shipping units; hardware hackers get how-to guide.

When it was first announced last week at GamesCom in Germany, the PlayStation 3 Slim was given a September 1 release date. That appears to have fallen by the wayside, though, with both brick-and-mortar stores and online retailers already offering the $299 120GB console.

You dont see skills like this everyday. AgonyVII is one of the most talented directors we have to offer here at Gamefresh. His videos are rather short, but leave an impression that lasts a lifetime. Take a look at what one of our writers has to say.

Ever heard of a terrible Call of Duty Montage? Don't you hate it? Well, you'll never have to worry about that with AgonyVII. After seeing his "Seizure" montage, I was quick to hit that subscribe button! Agony is a great editor, one of the best I've seen in a long time and that's what he's most known for. His amazing editing skills.

On every single video, it's all a good comment and I agree with each one. He says if you have great gameplay and quality, he'll edit your montage for FREE. Awesome, right? Well, that's not even that half of it!

I suggest you all check out his YouTube page ... Read more »
