Aside from the standard-issue black-and-white models, the Xbox 360's
controller has seen several limited-release colors and skins over the
past three years. Now, it appears as if one more will soon be coming to
market, as a listing in GameStop's online database indicates Microsoft is prepping a mottled red and black controller will be available October 15.
The Xbox 360's red/black wireless gamepad will apparently be a
GameStop-exclusive and retail for $69.99. At cause for the mark-up over
standard-issue $50 wireless controllers is the inclusion of a black
Play & Charge Kit, which is otherwise available for $20. Microsoft
has yet to officially announce the controller and has not returned
requests for comment as of press time.
The black and red model is the latest hue of official
stand-alone Xbox 360 controllers, which have also been offered in red,
green, blue, and pink. Microsoft also released controllers with custom
graphics for Halo 3 and is currently offering a green controller with
Halo 3: ODST graphics, as well as assorted other colors through various
promotions.
