Among Thieves officially finished; Sony announces series of movie theater parties in advance of October 13 retail debut.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is ready to set out in search of fame and fortune, Sony announced today on its official PlayStation blog.
The sequel to 2007's PS3-exclusive Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Among
Thieves has wrapped development and will be ready for its planned
October 13 debut at retail.
Developed
by Naughty Dog (Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot), Among Thieves
continues the adventures of wisecracking treasure-hunter Nathan Drake,
a distant relation of famed explorer Sir Francis Drake. The game will
introduce both competitive and cooperative multiplayer to the series,
as shown in the video demo below.
The first game in the series, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, has sold over 2.6 million copies worldwide. It is also being adapted into a film by Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, with Hitman 2 scribe Kyle Ward writing the screenplay.
To promote the sequel, Sony will hold four Uncharted-themed
events at movie theaters in the Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco,
and Seattle areas on October 5 and 6. Attendees will be able to play
the game on the big screen, compete in multiplayer tournaments, and
have a chance to win a Fortune Hunter Edition of the game. Not
available in stores, the Fortune Hunter package includes the game, a
replica of a dagger artifact in the game, an art book, and a
collector's case signed by the developers.
