On the heels of February's launch of the annual Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer's Edition, representatives were on hand at the E3 Expo this week to honor gaming publishers with brand new records. Guinness World Record recipients included Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Wii Sports, who received the record for the Best Selling Video Game with sales of 45.7 million to date. Major Nelson and Mark Whitten from XBOX LIVE received the award for the Most Popular Online Console Gaming Service during Monday night's Microsoft party.

E3 2009: Capcom brings survival horror to Sony's handheld for first time in new adventure "designed specifically" for PSP Go.



At its E3 media briefing today, Sony detailed a renewed push for its PlayStation Portable, from revamped hardware in the PSP Go (with native video-downloading features) to new games such as Gran Turismo PSP and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. One more piece of news didn't get much real estate in the two-hour press conference that was already stuffed with announcements, but Capcom's Resident Evil Portable marks the long-running survival horror series' first entry created for the PSP.

E3 2009: Sony VP of marketing Peter Dille confirms redesigned handheld will ship in two colors on October 1; additional hues possible postrelease.



Sony Computer Entertainment had a hard time keeping the PSP Go under wraps leading up to the handheld's reveal during the publisher's 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference. Just a few days before Sony was to descend on the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Sony's director of hardware marketing, John Koller, appeared in a leaked video of the PlayStation-focused video magazine Qore, spilling nearly all of the details on the device.
