Fallout 3 DLC pushed back for PS3

First add-ons for Sony console edition of Bethesda's postapocalyptic role-playing game now set to arrive in September.

While Fallout 3 garnered acclaim upon its October 2008 debut, the game has since taken plenty of knocks for a series of false starts and missteps with its downloadable content for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. Bethesda Softworks added another mishap to the stack today, as the publisher detailed a delay for the PlayStation 3 downloadable content.

Previously announced as debuting on the PS3 in June, Fallout 3's add-ons won't start to appear on the PlayStation Network until September. According to a post by Bethesda Game Studios producer Ashley Cheng on the official PlayStation blog, the first content pack released for the system will be Broken Steel, which gives players the ability to continue playing the game after completing the main storyline. The third pack launched for the PC and Xbox 360 version of the game, Broken Steel was chosen as the first PS3 add-on because it was "easily the most requested" downloadable content, Cheng said.

The Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt add-ons should arrive in quick succession, or possibly be released at the same time. The remaining two 360 and PC downloadable episodes--Mothership Zeta and Point Lookout--will find their way to the PS3 shortly thereafter, according to Bethesda.
