"Paperback Writer," "Revolution," "Yellow Submarine"
among newly announced songs for Fab Four's upcoming game; 25 of 45
on-disc songs now confirmed.
MTV Games and Harmonix are expecting an outbreak of Beatlemania
September 9 when their long-awaited The Beatles: Rock Band for the
PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii is released, and the pair is doing
everything in its power to make it a full-blown pandemic. Today they
revealed another batch of songs from the game's 45-track setlist, with
every major period of the band's career represented.
The 15 new songs feature signature Beatles tunes, such as "Paperback
Writer," "Revolution," and "With a Little Help From My Friends."
They're also tied to various points in the band's career. For instance,
"Twist and Shout" sees the band getting its start playing the Cavern
Club in Liverpool, while "Dig a Pony" and its Apple Corp. rooftop
concert venue virtually reproduce The Beatles' very last performance.
Other famous locales to be included in the game include Shea Stadium,
the Ed Sullivan Theater, and Budokan.
Those who don't see their favorite Beatles tracks on the list
can still hold out hope that they will find their way into the game
eventually. Beyond the 20 remaining on-disc songs to be announced (some of which will be previously unreleased),
The Beatles: Rock Band will feature downloadable content. When the game
launches September 9, Xbox 360 owners will be able to purchase "All You
Need Is Love," with proceeds going to the Doctors Without Borders
charity. Additionally, the classic album Abbey Road will be released as downloadable content in its entirety across platforms.
